Siren Salon opens at the "Y" in Soldotna

Fairy Tales, Mermaids and the song of the Siren are all alive and well at the new Siren Salon at the “Y” next door to Chez Moi in Soldotna, thanks to Sierra Conner and her family. “I trained and apprenticed under my step mom who was a beautician with her instructor’s license and taught me to love doing hair. When I was a little girl growing up my mom got me books of fairy tales and mermaids and because we were a fishing family my imagination ran with the myths of mermaids and their music that lured fishermen from their boats and into the sea in search of their music. Mermaids were always adorning their hair with sea stars and caring for it with silk brushes and seashells and always were making themselves beautiful. Mermaids sing and I love to sing too and the song of the Siren was so beautiful fishermen drowned in search of it, so my fantasies have somewhat become a reality at my Siren Salon and making others beautiful my passion,” says Soldotna born and raised and SoHi graduate Sierra Conner.

Sierra works with her younger sister Dominique at the new Siren Salon and enjoys doing older hairstyles as well as the latest high fashion cuts, “I really love doing color and as everyone knows the rage and range of color has changed a lot in the last few years. Older ladies still enjoy the short summer cuts and even the wedge cut is still requested by some of our clients. Personally I like the A-line cut which is short in the back and comes down long in the front,” says Sierra. Dominique and Sierra do both men’s and women’s hair cuts and styling so be sure to ask about “$13 dollar Thursday’s” a special at the Siren Salon through February. The Siren Salon also carries professional lines of beauty and styling products and has special referral cards for your friends that can save you money. With the Siren Salon punch card every 11th visit is free. “Like us on Facebook and we’ll keep you up to date on what’s happening at the Siren Salon. You just never know what we might come up with next.”
