Moose River Dental opens in Sterling

Great news for Sterling residents who have always had a long drive to the nearest dental clinic, now Dr. Edwin Allgair has opened Moose River Dental right in your backyard to provide all your family dental care. No need to put off a trip to the dentist until you can get an appointment for some distant date in the future only to have to reschedule when your mother-in-law decides that’s when she’s coming to visit from Nebraska. “Putting off dental care is never a good idea because problems only become worse without attention rather than getting better or going away,” says Dr. Allgair, “We located in Sterling because it’s beautiful and we wanted to be here to make our services more convenient for families in this area,” he told the Dispatch in an interview. Dr. Allgair first came to Alaska in the summer of 1998, “Within six hours of getting off the boat I was on the river enjoying the fishing and wonderful scenery so I took what I thought was a temporary assignment in Bethel thinking I would grow up or out of my infatuation with this place and go back home, but I kept extending for another year and then another and now this is home and I’m really happy to have opened the Moose River Dental clinic in my backyard,” he said.

The new Moose River Dental clinic is equipped with the latest in dentistry technology which makes everything easier for the patient, “Digital radiography and digital equipment has greatly advanced our ability to communicate with other professionals for consultations with experts and specialists which allows us to make better decisions which results in a better experience for the patient and digital x-rays has greatly reduced the exposure to x-rays,” explained Dr. Allgair. Moose River Dental is also proud of the well trained staff on hand to make your visit a pleasant one. Norma Bradford is the office manager and first happy face to greet you at the new facility, Ame Nienhuis is Moose River’s dental hygienist and Kelsey Meyer and Jessica Huff are Dr. Allgair’s dental assistants. “Norma is fantastic in caring for our patients and assisting them in looking after their insurance benefits and Ame is a talented and gentle hygienist who we are proud to have with us and Kelsey is a professional at making everything during your visit be a pleasant one,” added Dr. Allgair. According to Norma transferring records from a former out-of-town dentist is not a problem and if you bring your records with you you’ll be ready to go. Denali Kid Care and most insurances are accepted at Moose River Dental, “And we’ll help you file if your insurance isn’t one we bill directly.” Helping people that actually need something is what Dr. Allgair says is the best part of being a dentist.
