Jeep N Alaska calls 'Jeepsters' to the Peninsula

Jeep N Alaska calls ‘Jeepsters’ to the Peninsula

For the first time ever on the Kenai Peninsula Saturday, May 16th, found local Jeep owners and lovers participating in what will hopefully become an annual event, “Jeep N Alaska.” The event consisted of “Jeepsters” or participants joining in a poker run to pre-designated locations around the area: Stanley Jeep, Peninsula Powder Coat, Northwest Custom and Six States who created obstacle courses for the 4X4’s to conquer, such as climbing over wrecked cars, after which they were dealt a card. At the end, everyone met and the holder of the best hand was issued a prize ranging from a 50” light bar to a free detailing and a lube oil filter change. “We had some pretty good winning hands; turned in first place was a flush,” said Tim Iverson, the man behind all the jeep action. Iverson explained that the Jeep N Alaska group of local enthusiasts originally started with just two guys and a Facebook page wanting to talk about Jeeps. Since that time, the group has evolved to a plethora of members with around four different events a year to celebrate their love for the outdoors, their community and of course, their Jeeps. “We thank all our sponsors for a real fun day especially Stanley Chrysler and the Pruett family from Northwest Custom for some great prizes,” said Iverson. Although the obstacle courses were all on pavement or on top of wrecked cars many of the Jeeps were plastered with mud, “If it’s not wearing mud it’s just not running like a Jeep should,” laughed Iverson, “We’re going to do it next year again I have a lot of ideas and we had a ball meeting other Jeep drivers.”
