On December 10th the Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors (KPAR) and its’ affiliates gathered to celebrate another successful year at their annual KPAR Award Ceremony and Banquet. “We were excited to honor our 2015 Board of Directors and committee chairs, as well as to induct the new Board of Directors for 2016. We’d like to thank Board members; Mark White, Marti Pepper, Dale Bagley, Dorothy Cunningham, Kelly Griebel, Anna Johns, Lyndy Wackler, Linda McLane and Diane Melton for all of their hard work and we look forward to them leading us through next year’s events,” said Melissa Duffy, KPAR chief executive officer.

A highlight of the awards luncheon was the announcement of the ’15 Affiliate of the year by Marti Pepper, “Leslie Talent has been a wonderful resource to our organization and has been especially vital in helping promote our Sport, Rec and Trade Show each spring,” said Duffy. Marti Pepper of Redoubt Realty will be the KPAR president for 2016 and was also honored as the Realtor of the Year. In an interview Pepper said she was not expecting the award, “It was a total surprise,” said Pepper who has been a realtor on the Peninsula since 1998, “The award is based on an individual’s contribution to the community as well as our members and affiliates. I think the people are the best part about being a realtor, this is a very professional group of people who are always there to help one another. I’m very proud to be a member of such a caring and giving group and am excited about my year as president,” said Pepper

According to Duffy KPAR collected 32 toys for the Toys for Tots program. Entertainment for the luncheon was the realtors themselves who told true stories of their experiences, “It was a great time with a host of funny stories of real estate dealings. KPAR is looking forward to our next event, a Habitat for Humanity and Hospice fundraiser. We will host a comedy and dinner show with a 1920’s theme on February 13th at the Kenai Senior Center to benefit Habitat for Humanity and Hospice of the Central Peninsula. It’s going to be a new and exciting event, and we can’t wait to offer it to the community!”
