The beautiful, spacious Charis Place Assisted Living Center in Kenai was purposely designed and built to suit the needs of a new generation of senior citizens says Clint Hall, owner of the Charis Place facility located on North Forest St. in Kenai. Since its opening two years ago that purpose has been met to the delight of families and residents of Charis Place. “Our new administrator Bekkie Jackson is an RN and has brought a warm and homey, family atmosphere here. The residents are happy to be here and we are blessed to have them,” Hall told the Dispatch in a recent interview. “Many of our residents have told me this is the best home they have ever lived in and we take pride in that this is the favorite place for them to call home in the autumn of their life,” added Jackson.

As a nurse Jackson has experienced health care atmospheres and has strived to make Charis Place something special for the residents, “Some of the folks here have medical needs but not everyone here does so it’s nice that we have two professional registered nurses on staff to meet those medical needs when they arise. Yet the atmosphere is not sterile or clinical like many of the places I’ve worked at, this is different and I enjoy that difference as much as our residents do, it’s a great place to live and a great place to work,” she said. As the population of Alaska continues to age Hall says he is prepared to expand Charis Place to be able to accommodate more residents in the future, “Our first priority was to create the quality of care that our seniors deserve, and we’ve accomplished that and have a plan for a second building that we may start construction on very soon. My favorite part here is the kitchen, they prepare wonderful food and the kitchen is spotless every time any time I come by. With spring right around the corner we’ll be planting flowers in the outdoor patio where residents can eat or snack outside or enjoy the barbeque,” he said.

Charis Place boosts oversized rooms large enough to accommodate couples and additionally features a culinary staff that serves three meals daily plus snacks, common living room with fireplace, respite care with accommodations for overnight guests, a media center and cinema, spa and beauty parlor.
