Yo! Taco brings Fresh & Tasty north of the border

Many Alaskans enjoy traveling south of the boarder during spring breakup to enjoy the warm, sandy beaches and the authentic taste of Mexican cuisine served from carts on street corners throughout the country. Now for locals and summer visitors to Alaska a Mexican fresh food cart is going to be available right here on the Kenai Peninsula. Yo! Taco and Nila Sanchez has brought the Mexican outdoor experience north of the boarder. “I was born and raised in Victorville, California where my family who came from south of the boarder had a restaurant and I grew up doing the catering business, watching and learning the secrets of Mexican cuisine and knew from early on that I wanted to do it myself someday. I moved to Alaska in 2001 and worked in the oil & gas industry but always knew I would start my own taco shop someday and today is the day so Yo! Taco,” Sanchez told the Dispatch. “Authentic Mexican flavors are a huge passion of mine and it mainly boils down to fresh and tasty, but more importantly I look at food as artwork. I have created a marinade that is top secret, but I like to do a fusion style that offers a healthy variety of fresh vegetables which is all served and prepared right in front of the customer with a colorful presentation,” she said.

Sanchez returned to California to create her unique but totally traditional taco push-cart that she plans on opening at the first Wednesday market in Soldotna, “I’ll be there from June 1st through August and will also be attending a lot of the Kenai Peninsula events around town such as the St. Baldrick’s event here tonight. I have a team that loves to volunteer and give back to the community and we work really well together.” Meanwhile, she is offering her services and experience in catering to bring her Fresh-Fusion Cali Street Tacos and more to your party or event, “We can do anything from weddings to birthday parties or celebrations of any kind, and we come to you and Yo! Taco,” said Sanchez. You can call Nila Sanchez for quotes or more information at 907-953-8007 or email her at yotacoscatering@gmail.com.
