Lost lake Trail

To reach the trailhead turn west into Lost lake Subdivision and follow the road uphill to a T intersection, Turn left on Heather Lee Lane and go straight for 0.2 miles. Turn right at this intersection and drive to the end of the road. The trail starts to the left near the end of the road.

There are several side trails in the first mile. The first right-hand fork is an alternate route around a steep section that rejoins the main trail at the second intersection. The third fork is a winter trail that branches off the the right.

A side trip around the southwest edge of the lake and up the valley to the west brings a great view of Mt. Ascension. Look for mountain goats and bears. A hike from here to Cooper Lake is possible.

The Dale Clemens Memorial Forest Service cabin can be found on a spur trail about 4 miles from the Lost Lake trailhead. It is about 1.5 miles from the main trail and can sleep up to 10 people. The cabin offers spectacular views of Resurrection Bay and Seward plus Resurrection Peaks.

The winter trail is popular with snowmobilers but can be icy and fairly steep for skiing.

The trail is closed to motorized vehicles from May 1 through November 30.
