State Marine parks

Within Resurrection Bay are three of the state's 33 marine parks. Thumb Cove, Sunny Cove and Sandspit Point represent the western-most marine parks of the system and contain scenic anchorages, vistas and opportunities for viewing wildlife. Sunny Cove and Sandspit Point are on Fox Island. Fox Island was home of the famous painter, graphic artist and writer, Rockwell Kent from September 1918 to March 1919. A painting from this period is on display at the Anchorage Museum of History and Art.
