Navarre embaressed us when he

Navarre embaressed us when he was a representative in Juneau. His liberal views killed a lot of jobs and his partnership with the Anchorage liberals and rural natives resulted in a lot of wasteful spending on projects elsewhere. His behavior outside the capitol building was the stuff of legends - but he was young, so I'll give him a pass on that.

Is this election about name recognition, of political ideology? Navarre is the last person I want representing us.

Care to provide an example?

Care to provide an example? Or, are these just more whisper-campaign lies being spread to try and tarnish the reputation of an excellent statesman?

I for one am proud to have had Mike serve our community, both from within elected office and from outside of it.

In reply to KenaiKardinal88......you don't know what you're talking about and can't provide any information to support your gossip.
The borough can't afford to waste time on false rumors about "stuff" or "things" he may have done.

You've created this crap and you know it. I'm sorry I've wasted this amount of energy and time on this as it is.

if you want someone who will

if you want someone who will keep the borough from spending more money than they should and then taxing you for it then you better vote Fred . and this poll is no longer accurate as some have found the way to corrupt the polling numbers.

Fred has a long history

Fred has a long history working to force the borough to obey the will of the people. In 2001, Fred was a cosponsor for Peninsula Citizens Against Private Prisons and helped deliver the signatures to force the Borough-funded, Cornell operated private prison misadventure to be decided BY THE PEOPLE.

Fred cosponsored the initiative in 2008 that created the current grocery tax exemption. He also campaigned against the Borough's latest proposition to end this tax break.

Fred has supported many ballot initiatives, has stood against tax increases and has saved Borough taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars. He has done all this, as an unselfish act of public service.

Most importantly, Fred can be relied upon to act in the best interests of and support the will of the citizens.

Use your head... Save your bread... VOTE FRED !!!

Mike Navarre has played a big

Mike Navarre has played a big part in the political establishment on Kenai Peninsula for many years and should be recognized for his past service to the borough. The truth is that many things have changed here within our state and within our nation and we can no longer continue with “business as usual”. Also, when we go to vote on October 25th it will be hard to overlook the fact that Mike Navarre and many of his supporters were also supporters of Prop 1, which was turned down by over 69% of the voters this last election. Obviously the majority of those casting votes are not in complete agreement with Navarre’s philosophy of borough governance. Fred Sturman isn’t one of the political élite and isn’t beholden to anyone but the voters of the Kenai Peninsula borough. Bring new ideas and energy to the Kenai Borough by voting for Fred on October 25th.

Correct me if I am wrong, but

Correct me if I am wrong, but I understand Mr. Navarre supported Prop 1, which would cost local residents more in taxes, and also supported Prop 2, which gave our tax $$$ to special interest groups. Mr. Sturman opposed both Propositions, which were soundly DEFEATED BY THE VOTERS. So, who is listening to the voters?

Mr. Sturman was also one of those who worked to get the PFD for Alaskans. That stopped the 'tax and spend' career politicians from spending it all on THEIR pet projects, and put some money into OUR pockets.

Fred has fought and worked for the Term Limit issue, and helped get it on the ballot four times , which the PEOPLE voted in favor of, four times! He listens to the PEOPLE.

Fred worked for the initiative to force the Assembly to put any capital spending over a million dollars, to the voters, who agreed overwhelmingly. That issue saved the Borough a lot of money on the Heritage House purchase.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to have good sense and to be careful with OUR money! I would put honesty, frugality and COMMON SENSE above 'excellent speaking skills and computer competency', any day of the week.

Mr Navarre has had his time in office, I want to see someone with new ideas elected this time.

Fred has some excellent ideas that we would ALL benefit from, so let's vote for Fred and give him a chance to see what he can do.

VOTE FOR FRED, NOT A RETREAD, ON OCT. 25th!

Sunday 10/16/11 Question ?

Sunday 10/16/11
Question ? Does it make any logical sense to You to Trust the Management of $42 Billion
Dollars of Permanent Fund $$ to a WALL STREET HEDGE FUND MANAGER from
NEW JERSEY ?

Well that's What Our Permanent Fund Board of Directors just did. & this former Hedge Fund Manager will be Paid $325,000.
& there were 53 Applicants & they chose a Wall Street Hedge Fund Manager ?

Doesn't Anyone see something Wrong Here ? That where the Financial Crisis began !
With Wall Street Hedge Fund Managers & Bankers.

Everyone that Votes for Fred seems to be Ultra Conservative & frugal w/ their $$.
Would YOU hire a Wall Street Management Type to control 42 Billion Dollars ?

The Permanent Fund board

The Permanent Fund board doesn't turn over all Fund resources without parameters on how to invest. He's using his experience with guidance on risk defined by the Board. How would you manage a $42 Billion fund? Turn it over to Fred? I submit there's no one on the Peninsula qualified to take on that responsibility, me included. I think people have forgotten that for many, many years Dave Rose and Dave Rose alone had the responsibility with our Permanent Fund investment decisions.
