Making it 4 lanes would solve 90% of the problems

I agree jake. Making it four lanes with a median or center divider would reduce interaction with impatient drivers. Unfortunately, we can't make an "idiot proof" road. As soon as we think we have doen that ... someone will come up with a better idiot.
