I have witnessed a controversial, when first suggested, roundabout in Kihei Hawaii. I was one of the skeptics! In fact, I wrote an editorial suggesting it was a complete waste of taxpayers' money. I was wrong! It was and is a godsend moving traffic though a busy intersection safely and efficiently. I lived in Soldotna for 37 years prior to moving to Hawaii and can honestly say, mini-roundabouts at the three mentioned intersections would be an upgrade to your community especially when those "pesky tourists" deluge your summer streets.
I have used roundabouts in New Zealand ,Europe And the USA,they work great! Those who are against them have probably not had any experience with them.
