Arts

Description of event:
Exposure to all arts education and experiences. Prekindergarten through kindergarten students in self-contained art and music-rich instructional environment. First- through sixth-grade students choose four classes.
Aviation
Sponsoring organization: University of Alaska Anchorage
Description of event: This summer UAA is offering teens the opportunity to explore careers in aviation. Coinciding with the centennial anniversary of the first powered flight, UAA is offering "ACE Camp," an Aviation Career Education summer camp.
Basketball

Description of event: Molly Tuter will lead Gym Rats Basketball Camp for girls in third through 12th grades. Scholarships are available.
Drama
Sponsoring organization: Alaska Children's Institute for the Performing Arts
Description of event: Drama camp; production of play, video production, improv, rehearsal, staging and performance
Environmental Camp
Sponsoring organization: Soldotna Community Schools
Description of event: An outdoor-oriented exploratory (day) camp for students who have completed the fifth through eighth grades.
Flag Football
Sponsoring organization: North Peninsula Recreation Service Area
Description of event: Flag football; Nikiski teams will interleague with teams from the Boys and Girls Club of Kenai
4-H Activities

Fun-Plus
  • Activities to get the Sterling area youth involved in their community and to learn leadership and teamwork skills.
  • the Kenai Summer Clubhouse will include various mini-courses to promote character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness and recreation.
  • The Soldotna Summer Clubhouse's educational and recreational mini-courses will allow children to explore many activities.
  • Golf
    Sponsoring organization: Birch Ridge Golf Course
    Description of event: The Junior Golf Programs will teach all aspects of golf, including swing, chipping, putting and etiquette. There will be lots of fun and prizes each day.
    Gymnastics and Tumbling
    Description of event: Melissa Daugherty will teach gymnastics and tumbling every Tuesday for students ages 4 and older.
    Horse Camp

    Description of event: Horse Camp; participants do not have to belong to 4-H to attend
    Music

    Description of event: This program is for first- and second-year band students. Students will participate in like-instrument lessons with high school students and prepare two- to four-part ensembles for a final performance.
