Man dies after car wreck in Soldotna

A Soldotna man has died after a car wreck on the Sterling Highway near Fred Meyer on Tuesday morning.

 

Jeffery Moore, 20, was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on collision on the Sterling Highway between Fred Meyer and Kleeb Loop around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a release from the Soldotna Police Department. Preliminary investigation showed that Moore, who was driving a 2016 Hyundai, was traveling south on the highway and hit a 2017 Ford F350 driven by Erick S. Endecott, 39, of Soldotna. Soldotna police and Central Emergency Services vehicles responded to the scene.

Endicott sustained minor injuries in the accident and did not need medical treatment, according to the release. Moore's next of kin have been notified.

Alcohol may have been a factor, according to the release.

The accident took several hours to clear from the highway Tuesday but was cleaned up by 9 a.m.
