Eyewitness reports place a missing Nikiski man in Homer, according to police reports.

The Homer Police Department received a report Thursday that Jack Conright, 49, was seen near his boat at Northern Enterprises Boat Yard on Kachemak Drive in Homer.

Police checked the location twice — once at 10:54 a.m. and again at 10:57 p.m. — where witnesses placed Conright. They did not find him.
“We’re pretty sure he has been seen in Homer since he was reported missing,” Homer Police Chief Mark Robl said.

Robl said police and residents working or living in the boat yard would keep an eye out for the man.

Conright’s boat is big enough to live on, Robl said.

Robl said if police do contact Conright they would assess his health and welfare to make sure he’s safe and encourage him to contact family.

Last week, an independent search team organized by the Nikiski fire department found a single mountain bike track located on the pipeline trail that ends at the Swanson River, leading some to wonder if he left his home riding a mountain bike.

Conright has not been seen since the early morning hours of Saturday, May 28.

A 20-person team, composed of Nikiski firefighters and community members, along with a 10-person team provided by the Department of Forestry has been canvassing the area for Conright or any other evidence pointing to where he might be.

A helicopter provided by XTO Energy conducted an aerial search Thursday.

Beth Ipsen, Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman, said Troopers are leaving the case open.

She said Troopers have not received any concrete information, just calls from people saying they are unsure if they saw him or not.

“Right now, we still have sketchy information coming in,” she said.
Ipsen confirmed she heard reports of him being seen at the boat yard in Homer.

“It sure would be nice if he actually called or let us know that he is alright,” she said.

Anyone with information on Conright’s whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement personnel.

Jack Conright "spotted"

Is the source reliable? A friend of Jack's or a friend of the family? This report could be giving hope to a family distraught with the fact that the family member is missing. I believe this report could have been quashed to prevent further harm to the family members.

The media had no problem keeping the fact that he was missing out of the papers. Why now are they trying to be so diligent??

The next time I learn a weblog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me as a lot as this one. I mean, I do know it was my option to learn, however I actually thought youd have one thing fascinating to say. All I hear is a bunch of whining about one thing that you can fix if you happen to werent too busy in search of attention.
