Advisory board seeks members

The Kenai River Special Management Area Advisory Board is looking for three members.

The 17-member advisory board is accepting applications for public representatives until Sept. 1. Terms are for three years.

The board meets monthly except in the summer, and represents a broad spectrum of interests concerned with Kenai River habitat, fish and wildlife resources and recreation. It includes eight public members and nine members representing state, federal and local government.

The board is tasked with continuing to implement recommendations in the Kenai River Comprehensive Management Plan, coordinating a watershed planning symposium for the public, and reviewing results from the 2009 Recreation Use Study on the Kenai River. It also advises the Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources on issues related to management of the area.
