NWS issues weather advisories

The National Weather Service has issued an urban and small stream advisory for western Prince William Sound including Seward, Whittier and Portage that will be in effect from 10 a.m. Monday until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

A second advisory issued Monday said rainfall across the eastern side of the Kenai Peninsula is expected to increase in intensity Monday and Monday night. Some areas may receive between 2 to 5 inches of rain. This rainfall may cause some streams and small rivers in the area to overflow their banks.

The weather service said to expect ponding of water in low areas and along roadways with some bank overflow in places. Residents of low lying areas that are most prone to flooding should continue to monitor the situation.
