Celebrating 70 years
Scott Mineard, right foreground, and Andy Veh, right background, toss popcorn to their children Brooke, at left, and Nicholas and Benjamin, Saturday morning during the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge’s 70th birthday celebration at the refuge headquarters in Soldotna. The popcorn station was one of several activities set up for children and was intended to give kids an idea of how bats feed on mosquitos.
Kristen Guinn of the Bird Treatment and Learning Center shows off a female great gray owl at one of the other stations. The center also had an adult golden eagle on display.
