Estherina Sielak shields her face from Monday’s snow blowing across the Kenai Spur Highway near Kenai Municipal Airport on Tuesday afternoon. The airport recorded winds gusting to nearly 60 miles per hour at the time. Sielak, originally of Point Barrow, wasn’t deterred from being out, however. “This is nothing compared to where I’m from,” she said.
The wind brought down numerous trees, including the two that toppled on a pickup truck parked at a North Lupine Drive residence.
