Nikiski resident wanted for arson

An arrest warrant has been issued for Clint Healy, 31, of Nikiski who allegedly broke into a home and attempted to start a fire.

Healy faces four charges, including first-degree burglary, second-degree arson, first-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief; class B felonies and class A misdemeanors.

He has blonde hair and hazel eyes, is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds.

Bail has been set at $10,000.

The incident allegedly occurred on Oct. 25. Alaska State Trooper Wyatt Derner responded to a report from a Nikiski resident who stated Healy had attempted to light a trailer house on fire. The resident, a neighbor, went to the trailer and extinguished the fire, according to court records.

Resident of the trailer Ely Holmes was not home at the time of the fire and was notified by Nikiski Fire Department.

Derner observed the door of the trailer had been broken open. Inside, he spotted a can of Acetone burned on one side. Near the kitchen stove, the floor and cabinets had been burned, and electrical wires had been burned badly as well, according to court records.

Holmes arrived while Derner was investigating the scene.

During questioning by Derner, the neighbor who extinguished the fire stated Healy was her brother’s friend.

Healy allegedly informed a witness he lit Holmes trailer on fire shortly after doing so.

The neighbor stated she got into her vehicle, drove to the trailer and extinguished the fire.

Healy left the area before Troopers arrived. Witnesses stated they didn’t know where he currently lived.

Derner stopped by Healy’s last known address and discovered he never lived there.

The alleged arsonist has a criminal record, but nothing as serious as burglary and arson.

In Nov. 2002, he was charged with third-degree theft; the value of the property he stole was more than $50 but less than $500.

Involved parties of the arson incident could not be reached for comment.
