Two car collision at Kalifornsky Beach intersection

Two cars collided early Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Kalifornsky Beach Road and E. Poppy Lane.

Central Emergency Services responded to the collision, taking two motorists to Central Peninsula Hospital for injury evaluations. The injuries were non-life threatening, according to a CES official.

An unspecified pickup truck and Nissan SUV struck each other when one of the vehicles continued forward while the other vehicle turned left. Both claimed they had the right of way, according to Alaska State Troopers.

The intersection was closed for a half hour. The on-scene trooper said it felt like forever with the high winds, however.

Names of the individuals are not yet available. Investigation is ongoing.
