Nikiski Fire, troopers respond to fire, fatality

Nikiski Fire Department personnel responded to a fire at a residence off of Duke Street on Saturday morning. According to information provided by the department, units arrived on the scene to find that a mobile home had caught fire and burned to the ground sometime during the night. Upon investigation, the body of a deceased male was located near the mobile home. Alaska State Troopers have identified the man as the owner of the residence, Timothy Blaine, age 54. According to troopers, Blaine’s body will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for examination. Investigators from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation and the State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted in the on-scene investigation. At this point in the investigation, the fire marshal’s office believes that the fire originated from a heat source inside the residence. The fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.

Kenai sells bowling alley

After 11 months of receiving offers and holding negotiations, the Kenai City Council has sold the former AlaskaLanes Bowling Alley, a closed business located on the Kenai Spur Highway near the Three Bears grocery store, to Dean You for $450,000.
