Sales resume at Short Stop gas station

Gas is once again being sold at the Short Stop after a fire took the station’s gas pumps out of commission Sunday night.

 

Owner Roseann Jackson said about half the pumps were up and running Tuesday afternoon. The remainder will hopefully be back on in about two weeks, she said.

A fire broke out at one of the pumps after a Ford F150 pickup knocked over one of the fueling stations about 9:30 p.m. Sunday night.

Central Emergency Services Cpt. Lesley Quelland said the base of the pump and the surrounding area were on fire when Central Emergency Services arrived. By that time, employees had already shut off gas and directed the truck away from the downed fueling station. The store at the station remained open as usual while fuel sales were suspended.

The station is at the intersection of Kalifornsky Beach Road and Poppy Lane.
