Arson suspected in Soldotna fire

Central Emergency Services is investigating the cause of a double-fire in Soldotna Saturday night.

According to a statement from CES, a crew responded to a structure fire at a double-wide trailer about 5 p.m. Saturday night. They extinguished the fire and were on scene conducting salvage and overhaul for about two hours. The damage from the first fire was estimated at $15,000, with half the building burnt.

Later that night, the structure went up in flames again. The second fire engulfed the entire building. CES was at the scene for about 3 hours that time.

Total estimated damage was valued at $40,000, which is the property’s estimated value.

Investigators are suspecting arson, but the cause of both fires is still under investigation, according to a statement.

CES investigators are asking anyone with information about the fires, or about possible witness Jason Call, to call Fire Marshal Gary Hale at 262-4792.
