Blizzard warning for western Peninsula to carry into evening

A blizzard warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday north of Moose Pass, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning covers the area north of Moose Pass, including Turnagain Pass and eastern Turnagain Arm.

The NWS expects 12 to 24 inches of snow during the storm, with east wind 40 to 65 mph with gusts up to 75 mph.

A blizzard warning means severe winter weather conditions are expected or are occurring, the NWS said. All travel and outdoor activity is strongly discouraged, the warning said.
