Rhonda Soares of AK Kutz shaves Bailey Lundell’s head during the St. Baldricks fundraiser for childhood cancer Saturday night at the Soldotna Elks Club. A fourth-grader at Sterling Elementary School, Lundell said she raised $290. “It feels a little weird at first, but it was for a good cause.”
Chera Heath of Phormation Chiropractic and Day Spa holds up the last of her cousin Darrion Derflinger’s hair for an appreciative audience. Derflinger said she raised $2,077 and, like many of the participants, she donated hair to the Locks of Love organization. That group makes hairpieces for young people who have lost hair from cancer.
