Blizzard warning issued for East Peninsula

The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a blizzard warning effective from 7 p.m. tonight through 6 a.m. Saturday for Eastern Prince William Sound including the cities of Whittier, Seward, Girdwood and Moose Pass.

Snow accumulation is expected to be four to eight inches with blowing snow and visibility reduced to one quarter mile or less at times.

Wind is expected at 30 to 45 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour. The weather service warns driving conditions my become very difficult. All travel and outdoor activity is strongly discouraged.
