HEA members elect directors

Homer Electric Association members have elected three members to serve on its board of directors, the cooperative announced Friday after its annual meeting in Homer on Thursday evening.

 

Kenai resident David Thomas will serve in District 1, Soldotna resident David Carey will serve in the District 2 seat and incumbent Homer resident Jim Levine will represent District 3.

Results for District 1 indicate Thomas received 657 votes to Jesse Lobdell’s 622.

In District 2, Carey gathered 880 votes to challenger Ed Oberts’ 674.

Levine took 1,082 votes in District 3 to challenger Carl Martinez’ 330.

HEA members also approved a ballot proposition amending its bylaws to allow for electronic voting in elections. The measure received 3,130 votes in favor and 1,121 against.    

Following its annual meeting, the HEA board of directors met to elect officers —  Debbie Debnam of Sterling will serve as president, Homer resident Bill Fry was named vice president, Soldotna resident Dick Waisanen was named secretary/treasurer and Levine will serve as deputy secretary.

Weekend flood watch issued for Kenai Lake and Kenai River
