Soldotna council member resigns

Citing a new job outside of Alaska, Kyle Fisher last week submitted his resignation to the Soldotna City Council, effective following the June 27 council meeting.

Fisher has held Seat E on the Soldotna council since 2010. His term ends in 2013.

According to a memo to the council from Soldotna Clerk Teresa Fahning, after accepting Fisher's resignation and declaring a vacancy at its next meeting on Wednesday, the council will have 30 days to appoint an eligible person to fill the seat until the next municipal election on Oct. 2. At that time, Seat E will be placed on the ballot and a candidate will be elected to serve the remainder of Fisher's term.
