Kenai asks for voluntary water restrictions

Kenai city officials are requesting people observe voluntary water conservation measures while the new water treatment plant is coming online.

According to a press release, the water demand has exceeded the city's production capacity for the past two weeks.

The conservation measures include:

• Watering lawns/gardens twice per week for two hours in the evening

• Limit or eliminate washing of vehicles

• Do not wash paved or asphalt areas

• any other water conservation measures

The city is currently re-developing an existing well and drilling a new well which contributed to the water shortage as well according to the release.
