Police: Woman shot in Beaver Loop Road area

Central Peninsula police and fire departments responded to a report of a shooting in the Beaver Loop Road area of the Kenai Spur Highway on Monday afternoon.

According to reports received over a police scanner, an unnamed female gunshot victim was conscious and breathing after being shot in the stomach.

Kenai Police Lt. Dave Ross said the female was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital for treatment.

At 2:37 p.m., the Kenai Police and Fire Departments responded to the call. About 15 minutes later, officers were maintaining a perimeter around 5040 Beaver Loop. The officers questioned two unidentified males at opposite ends of the property’s backyard.

Two officers questioned a young male with dark black hair at the entrance of a shed. The officers wore latex gloves; one examined the inside and the doorway of the shed. Across the lawn, four officers stood with another male. Both males gestured with their hands while speaking with Kenai police.

The preliminary investigation is underway, Ross said.

No further details are immediately available.
