A power outage that began at 6:31 p.m. is affecting a large swath of central and lower Kenai Peninsula residents Monday.

The cause of the outage was determined to be a downed power line near Deep Creek, said Joe Gallagher, public relations coordinator for HEA.

The affected area begins just south of Anchor Point and extends to the intersection of K-Beach Road and the Sterling Highway in Kasilof.

HEA crews had restored power to about half of those affected, between Anchor Point and Happy Valley, by 8 p.m. Power had been restored to all HEA members by 10:40 p.m.
