Posted: September 12, 2012 - 8:29am

The Alaska Department of Transportation will host an open public meeting today to discuss updates on the Sterling Highway mile post 45 to 60 project, also known as the Cooper Landing bypass.

The meeting is from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a presentation at 6 p.m. at the Cooper Landing Community Club on Bean Creek Road in Cooper Landing.

DOT staff will present information on the supplemental environmental impact statement process, the project’s status, the alternatives under consideration, proposed mitigation measures, and further action needed on the project.

A second meeting will be hosted Sept. 18 in the DOT conference room at 4111 Aviation Drive in Anchorage. That meeting is from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a presentation scheduled for 6 p.m.

Tar and Feathers

How many years. and how much money has been spent on studying this project? Now DOT is having another meeting?

If you travel this poor excuse for a road, I think the time has come to attend this meeting with tar and feathers. When is enough, enough?

The time has come to clean house of all these incompetent, little bureaucrats that infest the Public Sector and feather their little cubicles with the working peoples tax.

Vote this November!

Jeez KenaiBear, Angry much.

Jeez KenaiBear,
Angry much. It is sad to see the contempt that some people have for public employees. They perform valuable services that you benefit from everyday. They execute our public will. In the case of that road, there isn't a consensus on what that will is. Any decision will have huge impacts on people's lives and the environment and in a democracy all people have to be considered.

Alaska road wreckers

I can understand the discust with the DOT as there seems to be a MONEYOPILY when it comes to properly fixing our roads and who gets to do it as well as massive spending on how, or who gets to do it, all of which never changes.
All this with the same results year after year of us being able to hold a lottery on when supposed good road work will break up. It makes me want to scream out loud with the DOT continuely allowing the same improper work to be performed yr after yr for our climate by the same people.
My cousin who does road work is amazed that the state allows this improper work to be done every year he comes for a visit. Lack of proper training on paving and the joining of seams of asphalt is the reason for the continued break up of our roads, as well as the lack of thickness of asphalt was his opinion and if one will notice those are the areas where the roads always break up and we get ruts in the road way due to weight of autos on the thin pavement which also aids in the deteriation of roads.
I think i might start a paving company with my 1/2 mexican wife as owner. This way the state will have to give us the work yr after yr due to equal opportunity rights afforded to business women in Alaska. Or not! If i do i will do the work properly for Alaska conditions even though it would mean less money from not being able to continually REDOING the road ways.
We need a commitee to replace those responcible for this continued scamming of Alaskans, but i fear that going against the money handlers of govt would prove useless as always seems to be the case.

Let's Talk Some More

Well Imagine That ! another much needed Project that has been cussed & discussed for Over 30 Years !

Need a Bridge from Funny River Road to Sterling that will provide a much needed Safety Corridor OUT of the Funny River area. Well Lets assign yet another Commission to Study those Needs !

Lets assign yet another Committee to Study & Research the Cooper Landing Highway issues.
Rule of Thumb : $2 Million Dollars per Mile.

Talk, Talk then Talk Some More & when that's Done, Lets Talk Some More. Reminds me of the Natural Gas PipeLine Issue.

You Voted for Them ! This is Your Republican Leadership
at Work. Oh Lets Talk about That.

Really SPW?

Please explain to me the continued discust with Republicans when the proclaimed messiah of the Democrates was hearlded as the choosen one that would lead us into the New World Order at his coming?
The only thing your messiah has done is lead us all to the edge of the cliff and actually over the cliff barely hanging on to a root which is being rained down on by more debt and about to wash away us and our bush into total economic collapse.
What part of your choosen ones word about FUNDAMENTAL CHANGE & HOPE TO BELIEVE IN don't you understand as his desire to change the way we were by going the total oppisite?
You need to wake up Steven Paul to reality of absolutely no differance the majority of time from either party and your choosen messiah is destroying America and inflaming all the world against america because they can see the writting on the outhouse walls that this choosen one is aiming for bad times for most people that are not in his Union of One, which is the vast majority of us all.
Our roads are bad, but they have been that way for ever and with the lack of proper road repairing knowledge not demanded by the DOT for those same companies that always get the jobs, it's not gonna change, no matter which party is in office.
It does amaze me that those that want to be smart usually can't see the writting on the wall due to all the words, or forest for the trees is another way of putting it. Things are not getting better under this choosen messiah Obama and in fact reality shows that even with the continual twisting of numbers & facts to try and BS us that they are, they are in fact not getting better, but much worse and we are almost totally undone as a nation. But thanks for your opinions and enjoy the freedoms we have to express them for now under this GR8 Divider messiah you helped elect as he tries to totally change OUR fundamentals into a state/govt. control nation which depends on the govt. for all are rights and livelyhood.
Run for office and see how easy it is to fight the system of controlers why don't ya?

He is having a hard time right now dealing with idiots above him that can't see reality as their head is stuck where it should not be. But from what i see in this money controled game of war every where now with no desire to win any where, thats the norm for many officers that have no business directing others but have the officer training needed by idiots to advance.
He has enjoyed his boat tharapy fishing with babies.

As for my voting i have explained for quit a while now on differant posts that i was a Democrate & voted as the union wanted me to for many years, then i realized that i was smart enough, even if thats not much, but enough for me to make my own voting choices due to who i thought would be the best for AMERICA.
I use to vote for the candidate of choice from either party in all elections, until the govt. ended that freedom, so i switched to Republican. I am a registered undecided so i can have more options on the ballot rather than straight Republican.
I've gone from a far left liberal, to a Republican in the middle and now a FAR RIGHT Undecided Demopublican that has to vote Republican.
I voted this last election and will vote in October as well and in 50 days i will vote for the lesser of two evils for president.
Of course by the time we vote up here it will already have been decided and hopefully we will be come a mormon state rather than the islamic state we now are. They are almost the exact thing religiously when one studies their foundation, past history and rules to govern by. Funny thing about true history it usually makes false religions mad and they want to do harm to you for revealing the truth and their stupidity for following a made up lie that has no salvation or hope of fundamental change to believe in what so ever. Opps! Thats what Obama wants us to have, a hopeless hope, and dependance on something that will never come about for the good of anyone, now isn't it?
The only differance in Romney is family values and morals, work ethics of working is good for everyone and love for America and OUR FUNDAMENTALS which don't need to be changed into a new hope thingy. So i'll vote Romney as there is no other choice if we have any chance of righting this capsized ship of a nation and rescuing our freedoms and liberty.
Why do you ask such a silly #2 question Steven?
