Power restored to 19,000 homes

The approximately 19,000 homes that lost power from Sterling and Kenai to Homer this morning on the Kenai Peninsula are online, according to a Homer Electric Association press release.

The HEA-powered homes lost power at around 8:19 a.m., and HEA crews restored power about an hour later.

A transmission problem caused the power outage, according to the press release.

All downed power lines need to be avoided; they can kill. If downed power lines are spotted, HEA encourages residents to call them at 1-888-868-8243.
