Motor vehicle crash involves Trooper

ANCHORAGE (AP) — An on-duty Alaska State Trooper sustained minor injuries after the officer’s SUV was hit by a veering truck.

KTUU reports the collision involving Trooper John Probst occurred Saturday afternoon near mile 145 of the Sterling Highway.

Troopers 46-year-old Anthony Larocca of Kenai was heading north in a 1995 Dodge pickup when he tried to pass another vehicle and lost control of the truck.

According to troopers, the Dodge crossed the center line and struck the side of the southbound 2013 Ford Explorer driven by the trooper, who tried to avoid the collision.

Troopers’ spokeswoman Megan Peters says the crash investigation continues and no citations have been issued.

Probst was treated at South Peninsula Hospital and released.

No injuries were reported by Larocca and his two passengers.
