Tom Rhyner of Kenai and Mark Beilfuss of Soldotna help process bison meat on Monday at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank. The meat was donated to the food bank by the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage after its herd was culled earlier this month. Volunteers were recruited to help Monday as as part of the National Day of Service, according to food bank Executive Director Linda Swarner. Also helping Monday morning were Dayne Clark of Soldotna, Jerry Farrington of Soldotna, and Deirdre Coval of Soldotna. Another group of volunteers was scheduled to come help Monday afternoon.
