Bishops Attic in Soldotna will be moving. The store will close Friday for the move to its new location, in the building next to Safeway and across from the CES station in Soldotna. The store will re-open on May 15. A moving sale is in progress through today.
The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is accepting applications from local food and craft vendors, school organizations, athletic organizations, local artists, churches, information and educational groups and any other interested parties to reserve booth space at the Family Fun in the Midnight Sun Event on June 15 at the NPRSA facilities in Nikiski. The City of Soldotna is now accepting new applications for the 2013 Storefront Improvement Program. Business owners or lessees can apply for a 50-50 matching grant, up to $5,000, to improve the exterior of their business. This year the city is expanding the program so that it is open to all businesses in the Commercial or Limited Commercial zoning districts.

■ “QuickBooks 2011: Inventory” ($80) — May 21, 5-9 p.m. Alaska SBDC wants to help you to be efficient in tracking your records so to get an overview of inventory in QuickBooks, practice filling out a PO for items; track the receipt of the inventory items in QuickBooks, to adjust inventory manually or enter stock loss or increase, the create, build and edit inventory assemblies (finished goods) and also to set up and use units of measure. This is all part of the Inventory workshop. Registration and payment deadline is May 17.

The Kenai Peninsula Economic Development District is now offering hands-on QuickBooks training. Topics covered in training sessions include manging bank accounts; invoicing customers; paying bills, processing payroll; reconciling accounts; monitoring profitability; and creating financial reports. Classes are three days during the third week of each month from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Kenai Peninsula Job Center in Kenai. The fee is $350. The next scheduled sessions are May 15-17, and June 19-21.
