A Flea Market will be held in the Sterling Senior Center parking lot, Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors may rent an outdoor space that comes with one table for $10. Spaces may be reserved by calling the center at 262-6808. The Flea Market will be held each Friday through the end of August.

The Central Peninsula Garden Club will hold its 4th Annual Plant Sale at 10 a.m., June 8 in the church parking lot at the corner of the Kenai Spur Highway and Princess Street. For more information call Cathy Haas at 907-262-7248.

The Sterling Senior Center is continuing with its Sunday Morning Breakfast, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Sunday. The menu includes a choice of eggs, pancakes, three-egg omelets, biscuits and gravy, and french toast. All meals include sides of bacon, sausage, ham, potatoes and toast. There are also two or three juices available along with fruit, yogurt and rolls. The breakfast is $10 per person. For more information call the Center at 907-262-6808.

The Kenai Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct a boating safety class from 7-10 p.m. June 3, 5, 10 and 12. The class will be at the Emergency Response Center, 253 Wilson Lane, Soldotna. The class will cover types of boats, required safety equipment, navigation, emergency situations and trailering. The Central Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board regular meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. June 10 in the Redoubt-Spurr Conference room at Central Peninsula General Hospital, Soldotna.

The Kenai Flotilla of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct a GPS for Mariners class June 13. It will be a basic GPS navigation forum. Prior knowledge of chart use and navigation is helpful. Participants are encouraged to bring their own hand held GPS unit. The class will be conducted at the Emergency Response Center, 253 Wilson Lane, Soldotna from 6-10 p.m. The cost of the class is $35 per person. The text book is included with the registration fee. The Sterling Area Senior Center will host the Annual Salmon Classic Kick-Off Event on June 29. There will be complimentary wine, a prime rib dinner that includes appetizers and a dessert selection. There will also be a cash bar. The center has gathered many items for the silent auction and mini raffles. This is an opportunity to be one of the first 20 people to purchase 10 Salmon Classic tickets and receive gift a free gift valued at $10 or more. Participants can also purchase tickets for the quilt raffle that evening. Registration is 5 p.m. June 29. The cost for this event is $25 per person. Reservations are required. The Soldotna Senior Center will hold their Hawaiian Luau fundraiser at 5:30 p.m., June 15. There will be a sit-down Hawaiian dinner, live entertainment of two hula troupes, door prizes, a grand door prize and a silent and outcry auction. Adult tickets are $23, children 12 years or younger tickets are $12 and the event is open to the public. For more information call 907-262-2322.

The Alaska Division of Agriculture will present a free on-farm food safety workshop 3-6 p.m., June 15 in the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank building on Kalifornsky Beach Road. The workshop will explore safe produce production, handling and distribution concerns of home gardeners to small-acreage produce growers. River City Rotaract will host the Salmon Toss Inaugural Disc Golf Tournament June 15 on the Tsalteshi Trails at Skyview High School. Participants are encouraged to come out an enjoy the new course for the greater Soldotna area and support the River City Rotaract club by attending the first annual tournament.

Contact Kathy Kenner at 262-6331 for more information or to sign up to play. Come on down for hamburgers, hot dogs and tons of fun.

Cheryl Poole is making dog beds to benefit the Peninsula Spay and Neuter Foundation. Beds are available in 14 by 18 inches ($5), 16 by 20 inches ($10), 20 by 30 inches ($15), 24 by 36 inches ($20) and 30 by 40 inches ($25). The beds are on display at Ultimutt’s Unleashed, 902 Highland Ave #2, Kenai. All proceeds go toward the Peninsula Spay and Neuter Fund. To order a dog bed call Cheryl at 907-395-0807.
