No death in Spur accident

A passenger car crossed over the center line on the Kenai Spur Highway and collided with a tractor trailer truck at 9:15 a.m. today in front of the Salvation Army in Kenai, according to the Kenai Police Department.

There are no deaths as a result of the head-on collision, Kenai Police Sgt. Scott McBride said.

The 20-year-old male driving the 2008 Pontiac is being treated at Central Peninsula Hospital, McBride said.

“He was conscious and talking to the medics,” McBride said.

The 37-year-old male driver of the 2009 Peterbilt tractor trailer truck is uninjured, McBride said.

Traffic was initially diverted, but the highway was reopened at about 10:20 a.m., McBride said.

The Kenai Police Department is still actively investigating the accident. No names can be released at this point.
