Vehicle rollover reported, driver transported to CPH

Posted: July 8, 2013 - 3:57pm

A semi-truck with a flatbed trailer filled with lumber was on its side and completely off the road near Mile 105 Sterling Highway, just north of Kasilof, Monday afternoon.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Central Emergency Services received a report of a rollover. According to Captain Terry Bookey, CES arrived to find the semi on its side and the load of lumber partially in the ditch.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital for evaluation of apparent, non-life threatening injuries. The driver was the only occupant.

Bookey said the vehicle was traveling southbound toward Kasilof. The cause of the incident is unknown.

People need to slow down and stop driving stupid.

I saw a sobriety test being done and a moose within a mile of this accident. How many accidents need to happen before they do something about more prevention. There's not enough police. There's not enough punishment for DUI'S. and there needs to be something done to try and get moose off the road! Other states have fence's along they're heavily populated deer area's. why not us? They say we're a rich state, but our roads are not being taken care of, and there needs to be more funding to get more police on the highways's!!! Come on! I am starting to not feel safe on the toads anymore!!! Anchorage keeps having shootings, but people are killing each other in accidents here. There's prevention tactics!!
