2 injured in ATV accident

A truck hit an all-terrain vehicle in Nikiski Tuesday, injuring two girls, according to an Alaska State Troopers report.

Jewel Meader, 20, was driving a 2000 GMC Sonoma pickup truck when she collided with a Suzuki Quadrunner driven by a 13-year-old girl. Another girl was riding as a passenger on the ATV.

The accident happened at 7:21 p.m. on Milky Way Street and Littmitz Avenue.

The driver of the ATV was taken to Central Peninsula Hospital with minor injuries, and the passenger of the ATV was flown to Anchorage with non-life threatening injuries. Meader was not injured.

Both the driver and the passenger of the ATV were wearing helmets.

Troopers issued Meader a summons for operating a motor vehicle in violation of an instructor’s permit.

The pickup and the ATV had minor damage and both were driven from the scene.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the accident.
