Posted: July 23, 2013 - 7:15pm  |  Updated: July 24, 2013 - 9:45am

A shooting that left one person wounded Tuesday evening is under investigation by Kenai police.

According to Kenai Police Chief Gus Sandahl, the incident occurred in front of the Home Depot in Kenai. Police received the call at 6:38 p.m.

Sandahl said that one person was struck and injured, and was transported to Central Peninsula Hospital.

Kenai police have identified the individual who fired the gun, Sandahl said, and are in contact with that person.

Additional details were not immediately available. Sandahl said that police were still gathering information.

No arrest?

Maybe the shooter was just "standing his/her ground".

Stand your ground law.

The law says that "a person may not use deadly force if he or she knows that, with complete personal safety, he or she can avoid the need to use deadly force by leaving the area of the encounter." This would not apply to ones own domicile, but does apply in other public places.
There are some very good reasons for this particular amendment to the law. If a person refuses to remove themselves from a potential situation and chooses instead to use a weapon, he or she is now putting the public at large in danger of catching a stray bullet. If violent confrontation can be avoided by removing yourself from the situation, that is what should be done.

Think

Maybe there is more to this story than the little article. Jumping to conclusions is what caused the uproar nation wide over the Martin shooting. Until the investigation is completed dont decide the outcome. If it were you in those shoes, you would want people to do the same for you.

Most shootings are not intentional

Relax people. Chances are that this is a case of some moron violating two or more of the Universal Firearms Safety Rules which resulted in the negligent discharge of a firearm. Could have even been a private gun sale transaction from an AK List posting where the seller wanted to meet the buyer in a public location instead of having him over to the house. That's fairly common. Either one of them could have been the moron who discharged the gun. If it was an intentional shooting, the police will sort it out and take appropriate action if and when there are charges that can be filed with the court. But ya'll sure do get a lot of exercise jumping to conclusions!

Three Times

Three to the chest is not unintentional. Guess again JOAT. So was Cole Sprinkle wearing a hoody? Ezekiel Johnston the shooter has made a claim of self-defense, justifiable and non-criminal.

No arrests?

Perhaps the reason no arrest has been made is because the police realize it was self defense. The police are still investigating though. Go to the court records and look up Cole Sprinkles name. He has had some priors. I am sure there is more to this story than what has been reported. I know Mr. Johnston and know he would never shoot anyone unless he felt his life was in danger. Let's wait for the final police report.
