Hartman appointed to council seat

Soldotna City council members welcomed Brenda Hartman back to Seat B.

The council waved the interviewing process as Hartman was the only applicant for the partial term, and it unanimously appointed her to Seat B.

Hartman will fill the seat until the October election when a new council member will be selected to serve the last year of Seat B’s term. Hartman resigned at the July 24 meeting because she will be moving to Oregon. She began serving as the Seat B council member in 2009 and was re-elected in 2011.

The council also unanimously appointed Hartman to fill her former position as vice mayor.

The candidate filing period for the three council seats on the ballot for the October election — Seat B for a one-year term and Seats D and E for three-year terms — closed Thursday.
