Power restored to Kasilof area

Homer Electric Association crews restored power to the about 1,100 Kasilof-area HEA members without power at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Members from the intersection of Kalifornsky Beach Road and the Sterling Highway in Kasilof to about 10 miles north of Ninilchik were affected. The outage began at 6:08 a.m.

HEA has determined the outage was likely caused by a tree contacting the power line, but after patrolling the area, crews have not been able to locate the exact cause.

Joe Gallagher, HEA spokesperson, said a tree likely bent over in the wind, contacted the line and caused the outage and then bounced off of the line.
