Nikiski bus hits moose

Nikiski Middle and High School Bus 18 hit a moose driving to school today that Paul Johnson, of Nikiski, had hit earlier in the morning. The students on the bus, Vice Principal Shane Bostic said, were late for school.

Bus 18 hit the moose at 6:45 a.m. today, Alaska State Trooper Marc Hendrickson.

Johnson had hit the moose before the bus and driven down a side street, Hendrickson said.

When Bus 18 hit the moose, the animal pushed in the bus’s bumper and splattered excrement down the passenger side of the vehicle, Hendrickson said.
