Eric John Wik

Lifelong Alaskan, Eric John Wik, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 70.

A celebration of life and potluck will be held in his honor at from 1 to 3 p.m. Tyotkas in Kenai, Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013.

Eric was born June 27, 1943, to Alec Wik Sr. and Margaret Dolchok in Anchorage. He spent most of his life in Kenai, where he attended school, finally settling in Nikiski, where he worked as a commercial fisherman and was a member of the Russian Orthodox faith.

Mr. Wik has a love for reading and cars, especially Pontiacs. One of his favorites was his 1977 Trans Am, the exact model of the car used in the film, “Smokey and the Bandit.” He always had a sharp looking Pontiac Car. One of Eric’s hobbies was to carve ivory. He has a lot of grand plans for his art… “when he has some more time..”

Eric was a private, kind person, who spent much of his time at his cabin, where he loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing, when he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Alec Wik Sr. and Margaret Dolchok, and his two brothers, Alec Wik Jr. and Ralph Wik.

He is survived by his three sisters; Gloria Wik and Evelyn Huf, of Kenai, and Emily Marrs of Anchorage, along with numerous friends and relatives.
