Kenai council talks Paint the Kenai, comp plan

Kenai city council met Wednesday night following local elections to attend to regular business.

Marcus Mueller told the council about the Paint the Kenai Mural Project. The Kenai Municipal Airport will be the site for the final mural, he said. Fanny Ryland’s artwork will be used for the mural, he said.

The Soldotna Rotary Club, the organization sponsoring the project, received 24 mural designs from Kenai Peninsula residents, he said. The project is halfway through, he said.

At the end of the meeting, council member Tim Navarre asked City Attorney Scott Bloom what the fate of the city’s comprehensive plan will be. Since voters in the Tuesday local election repealed the ordinance authorizing the plan, Navarre is unsure which plan the city should operate from, he said.

Navarre asked Bloom for a report.
