Juneau feds get break on coffee drinks

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Some Juneau businesses are offering discounts to furloughed federal employees.

The Juneau Empire reports out-of-work federal employees can get half-priced coffee and free, day-old baked goods at Coppa, a new cafe. Pie in the Sky Bakery and Cafe is offering a free cup of coffee with a food purchase, or a free cookie with an espresso or chocolate drink.

If the arts are more to their style, idled employees are being offered half-priced tickets by the Juneau Arts and Humanities Council to the Keola Beamer and R. Carlos Nakai concert on Saturday. Those buying tickets online should enter the coupon code “artfurlough.”

Federal employees can also buy half-priced tickets to the play “God of Carnage” at the Perseverance Theatre.
