Alaska LNG project picks Nikiski as first choice

Nikiski has been selected as the lead site for the proposed Alaska LNG project’s plant and terminal location.

Senior Project Manager Steve Butt said Nikiski is the top choice because it is an existing industrial area with proximity to a gas grid, and the area has a strong history of successful smaller operations.

Alaska LNG is looking at acquiring 600 to 800 acres south of the ConocoPhillips facility to test environmental due diligence and other possible challenges before, Butt said.

Secondary sites are still being considered.

This is a developing story.
