Alaska LNG project picks Nikiski as first choice

Posted: October 7, 2013 - 11:35am  |  Updated: October 7, 2013 - 11:38am

Nikiski has been selected as the lead site for the proposed Alaska LNG project’s plant and terminal location.

Senior Project Manager Steve Butt said Nikiski is the top choice because it is an existing industrial area with proximity to a gas grid, and the area has a strong history of successful smaller operations.

Alaska LNG is looking at acquiring 600 to 800 acres south of the ConocoPhillips facility to test environmental due diligence and other possible challenges before, Butt said.

Secondary sites are still being considered.

This is a developing story.

This is a major shocker

This is a major shocker folks.
Who would have thunk it?
As I said many times it does not take a rocket scientist to read the 'SIGNS' on the North Road pointing to major Future oil & gas related business coming soon.
Hea building a huge gas fired power plant at Colliers/Unocal, plus the plethora of other New buildings all built to supply oil and gas industry.
If only they will hire locals who live here year round, what a wonderful place it would be for economy and commerce.
Glad to see this and I would guess more is to come if only BO can be stopped with his plans to stop economic growth and commerce from the middle class business's who cause the most growth and taxes to run our nation.
