Man dies from gunshot wound while hunting

A 19-year-old is dead after receiving a gunshot wound while hunting near Soldotna on Sunday afternoon.

Jonathan Granger was reportedly hunting near his Isaak Road home when the incident occurred, Alaska State Troopers spokesperson Megan Peters wrote in an email.

She said Granger was alone when he received the wound and was able to call his family to report the incident. No one else is thought to be involved, Peters said.

Family contacted troopers to report the gunshot wound at 2:46 p.m. Central Emergency Services also responded.
