Break out the mung beans, alfalfa seeds and mustard! The Central Peninsula Garden Club’s program on Dec. 10 is “Alaska Sprouts!” presented by S J. Klein of Alaska Sprouts in Anchorage.
Klein started Alaska Sprouts to provide sprouts to Southcentral Alaska. In the four years he has operated his business, he has introduced micro greens, hydroponic basil and lettuces, and fresh tofu. Klein is obsessively focused on food safety, and brings a background in microbiology and production though his former occupation as a brewer, where he operated the Borealis Brewery. He has also consulted with other startups, helping develop business plans and find operating capital.
The presentation begins at 7 p.m. at the Cook Inlet Aquaculture Association Building at mile 16.5 K-Beach Road. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments provided, and sometimes door prizes. Membership and general club information is available at www.cenpengardenclub.org, or contact Marion Nelson, 283-4632, or email@example.com.
